Myers Brown, Middle Tennessee Field Agent and Archives Grant Manager at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, will present a “Basics of Archives Management” workshop, Thursday, September 28, 9:30am-3:00pm, at the First Presbyterian Church in Allardt. Presented by the Fentress County Historical Society, the workshop will be held in the fellowship hall of the church. It will provide an overview of where to start with an archives project, the basics of archives care and conservation and the “do’s and don’ts” of organizing and maintaining a publicly accessible archive. The workshop is free to individuals who work with archives projects, either as employees or volunteers. It will be of particular interest to those involved with county archives, historical and genealogical societies, public libraries, schools and churches. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants are invited to visit the Fentress County Historical Society Museum, which is within easy walking distance of the church. There is no charge to attend the workshop and lunch will be provided. Registration prior to the day of the workshop is requested, however.
